Educators and employers alike are struggling with aligning the meaning and value of specific education outcomes and competencies. This challenge has been further exacerbated by the rising popularity of micro-credentials, nano degrees, and other non-traditional credentials. With several résumés in front of you bearing similarly named credentials, how do you know you are comparing apples to apples? In this talk, we'll explore the efforts to create standardized competency frameworks and look at whether newer technologies like machine learning truly hold the key to demystifying credential currency.
